What we build
All aspects of brickwork.
From a front wall and a pair of piers to the brickwork on new homes. If it's built in brick, ask us about it.
-
Garden & boundary walls
Front, boundary and garden walls built to a true line and level, then finished with a brick-on-edge coping or stone caps.

-
Piers, caps & copings
Brick piers for gateways and wall ends, topped with caps, and copings laid along the top of a wall to shed the rain.

-
Extensions
Single and two-storey extensions in brick, with the new courses lined up with the house.

-
New builds
Brickwork for new homes, from the first course up to the roofline.

-
Patios & gardens
Patios, raised edges and garden brickwork to finish the space around the house.

-
Rebuilds & larger jobs
Failing brickwork taken down and built back properly, and brickwork on bigger renovation projects.

Plan the look
Try bonds, joints and copings before you decide.
The pattern of the bricks, the finish on the mortar and the top of the wall all change how it looks and how it weathers. Try a few combinations, then add your favourite to your enquiry.
How a job runs
From first call to finished wall.
Every job is different, but most follow the same four steps.

A look at the job
We arrange a visit to talk through bricks, bond and finish, and to check access, levels and anything else that affects the build.

Built course by course
The work goes up with line and level checked as it rises, then the site is cleared.
Questions
Good to know before you build.
Do I need planning permission for a garden wall?
Often not for a low wall, but there are height limits, and they're stricter next to a road. Listed buildings and conservation areas have extra rules too.
If you're not sure, check with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, or your own council if you're elsewhere, before work starts.
Can you match my existing brick?
A close match is often possible, with a new brick or a reclaimed one. Brick colour changes with age and weather, so a clear daylight photo, with something in shot for scale, is the best place to start.
Brick-on-edge coping or stone caps?
A brick-on-edge coping uses bricks stood on edge across the top of the wall. It's neat and traditional, and it's what you'll see on most of the walls in our photos.
Stone or concrete caps overhang the face of the wall so rain drips clear of the brickwork. Both work well; it mostly comes down to the look you want and the style of the house.
Can bricks be laid in winter?
Yes, with care. Frost damages fresh mortar, so the usual rule of thumb is to stop laying at about 3°C and falling, and to cover new work on cold nights. The laying-weather panel shows today's conditions in Barry.
Do you work for builders and developers?
Yes. As well as work for homeowners, we take on brickwork for new homes and larger domestic and commercial builds. Send the drawings and a rough programme with your enquiry.
